Resources for Family Worship
Family worship is not easy. With the craziness of the day, each member of the family having a different schedule, the mountain of things to do it, and the embarrassment or awkwardness that can accompany it, family worship seems sometimes like a battle. But it is a gift and blessing from God that he promises to bless, and commands us to do.
Here are two resources that will help.
This is a very helpful and encouraging book on family worship. Helopoulos says, ‘At the outset, I want to make it clear that this book is not intended to heap guilt upon the shoulders of husbands, mothers, or parents who have struggled to lead their homes in family worship…Instead, I hope that this book will be an encouragement to the reader to have a true resolve to engage in family worship, but only by, in, through, and because of the grace of God.’ (15-16). Helopoulos accomplishes that by showing us the great benefit and gift that family worship is, not by beating us over the head, but by showing us God’s grace in Christ through the means of family worship.
This book is an excellent resource for family worship. Terry Johnson gives much practical advice and provides in the book itself many resources that will help guide the family, including some great historical resources. This is an all-in-one source for those needing help.
